The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) just announced a new initiative to assess the state of cyber security for the electric grid. DOE has already begun tapping numerous leads from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Homeland Security as well as both public and private utilities to contribute to this open forum on cyber security.

Just this week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced a new, innovative system where individuals can self-check their employment eligibility instantly online. The E-Verify Self-Check system is being piloted in Arizona, Colorado, District of Columbia, Idaho, Mississippi, and Virginia, and will soon become available in more states.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has already hosted two dozen events in their focused efforts to address the gender pay gap in America. Fortunately for employees who work in federal government, there is a higher level of equal pay in federal jobs versus private sector jobs.

As reported by Washington Postcolumnist Joe Davidson, it is the General Schedule that takes the most credit for keeping down gender-based pay disputes.
